Environmental Commitment
The
Travis Perkins Group is fully committed to protecting the environment and we are continually looking for new ways to improve the environmental performance of all out trade activities.
We place great importance on our environmental responsibilities and have taken measures to reduce our carbon emissions, cut down on the amount of waste we send to landfill and carefully manage our supply chain to buy certificated, well-managed timber, 97% of the timber materials used in our cabinets and fascias are made from FSC sources.
In addition, our environmental management system is certified to the international standard ISO 140011.
To celebrate the opening of the 1000th branch within the
Travis Perkins Group in July 2006, a historic company milestone, the group launched a '1000 projects in 1000 places in 1000 days' community initiative. The programme aims to encourage enployees to donate their time and talent for the benefit of the local community.
Projects completed have included large projects such as bridge building for a scout campsite and fitting out and painting a rehabilitation centre for those affected by drugs, alcohol and homelessness, as well as smaller projects such as running branch visits for primary school children.
The programme builds on the work already carried out by many of our branches to support local community projects, and continues to encourage our employees, suppliers, customers and local community leaders in working together to deliver something of real value to the communities we serve.
The main charity benefiting from our fund-raising activities is
CLIC Sargent.
